NEWS OF SPECIAL INTEREST TO BEE COUNTY WILDLIFE MANAGERS
(Mouse click on any red headline to read the full story relevant to that headline.)
Looking for 3 new Directors for the Association
The Board of the BCWMA is made up of 9 directors, each serving a 3-year term. Each year, 3 directors complete their terms and 3 new directors are elected to replace them.
While directors who stand for re-election are appreciated, new individuals with fresh ideas and enthusiasm are always best for BCWMA. And why not YOU as a new member of the team. Time demands are truly minimal (the board usually only has to meet a few times per year), but the involvement is almost always lots of fun and very rewarding.
If you'd be interested in getting a little more involved and serving as a director, please call Randy Walls at 361-362-8034 or email me (Ray Richards) at bcwma@hughes.net . We'd be happy to talk with you about becoming a director and what's involved; you can help others enjoy our wildlife too, and with very small demands on your time. Please call or email today.
BCWMA Annual Meeting/Dinner Heads-up
Get it on your calendar. . . The annual BCWMA dinner/banquet is scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2012, at the Expo Center at the Bee County Fairgrounds. Biologist Dr. Terry Blankenship will be the guest speaker (managing wildlife in droughts); dinner will be a rib-eye with shrimp. Tickets will be available soon from any Board Member or at the County Agent's Office. And you can expect numerous handgun, rifle, and shotgun raffles again this year.
This is another website that provides more helpful information on feral hog control, damage, disease, and hunting. The website is provided by Texas A&M University in an effort to help lessen the burden of these critters. Click on the red headline above to be linked to their site.
New BCWMA Board of Director members Elected
As required by the by-laws, three members of the BCWMA Board of Directors retired from the Board having completed 3-year terms. Appreciation was expressed at the Annual Meeting/Banquet to Bill Fox, Mary Sklar, and John Tomerlin for their generous service. Bill Fox and John Tomerlin agreed to stand for election to a 2nd term and were so elected. Mary Sklar has returned to full-time teaching and retired from the Board; Pat True, an original organizer and charter member of BCWMA agreed to stand for election for a further term, and was so elected, replacing Mary. All three were elected by acclamation; welcome back!
